Prayer for Today

“My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name. On Christ, the solid rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand.” Edward Mote (1797-1874)

Prayer for Today

Lord, today we pray for the community life of our town. We thank you for the opportunities our town offers for social gatherings, like those held at the village hall. Lord, we pray that you would work through those gatherings to form new friendships among people in the village, and bring our community closer together. Through Christ, amen.

Prayer for Today

“But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.’” (Luke 2:10-12)

Prayer for Today

Lord, today we pray for the prayer group that meets on Thursday mornings at the Kemnay Church Centre.  We thank you for this important ministry in the church, and for the work of those who help lead it.  Would you plant in us a deep desire to pray for the needs of those in our church and our community, and would your Spirit be at work, in and through the prayers offered…

Prayer for Today

“No medicine is more valuable , none more efficacious, none better suited to the cure of our temporal ills than a friend to whom we may turn for consolation in time of trouble, and with whom we may share happiness in time of joy.” – Aelred of Rievaulx (1110-1167)

Prayer for Today

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32).  Lord, we thank you that you are a kind God, tenderhearted to us. Help us by your Holy Spirit to show that same kindness to one another – help us to forgive one another as you have forgiven us.

Prayer for Today

Lord Jesus Christ, we worship and give You thanks that You came from heaven, born of Mary to light up the world; living, dying and rising again to overcome the darkness of sin and death. Today we celebrate Your birth and rejoice in the hope of Your promise of eternal life.  Amen. (CARE)

Prayer for Today

Father God, Thank You for the generosity many show at Christmas time; through hospitality, kind words and gifts.  Please bless those who share with others in need: homeless people, those in hospital, care homes and prisons, and others who feel lonely and forgotten.  Amen (CARE)

Prayer for Today

Lord, today we pray for the members of our local government.  Lord, we pray that you would remind them each day of their purpose for being in government.  Would you empower them to seek the welfare of all people in our communities, in ways that glorify you. Through Christ, amen.

Prayer for Today

“And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to…
